Hello hello :)
I was just wondering that if on GleeRPG you can be in more than one thread at once?

I think I can answer that one for you, Elizabeth :)

I have 3 characters in McKinley (2 of them canon and all involved in ND in some capacity), so it's perfectly all right for your character to be in more than one thread.  Since you're a McKinley, look for open threads in both McKinley High and Lima Township - they're a great place to interact with the other characters

Hope that helps a bit

Okay so I have some questions   :)

How do you know which school to attend? and How do you know when you can join a thread? And when you are in the thread, when do you know when to post if you're like four people and you don't wanna cross post with someone else ... ? :o

I'm a newbie. I know. It says it on my profile  ::)

I can answer these questions for you, Aviljans. :)

- To know which school you're supposed to be in you have to fill an application for your character so everyone could know about your character's personality/age and such. You can find the application template here, you post the profile application here and one of the moderators (Quinn) will read your application and accept it.

- If a thread is labeled as [open] then the person who started it is okay with RPing with any character. Be careful though, if you're a McKinley for example, your character can't hang out in Akron or Fort Wayne always. It wouldn't make sense.

- If a thread is labeled as [the name of your character] ONLY then the person who started it wants to RP with you only. That means it's a thread between you two or you, the thread starter and any other character that the post-starter added between the brackets.

- RPing with three or four people might be difficult sometimes, if you don't read the post well. Usually, you'll just know when it's your turn to post, looking at the conversation or actions going on between the characters. It's just a sensory thing, mostly.

I hope I was any help to you. :)

I'm in love with Nic because of this set! <3

Hii welcome to the site! Hopefully I can help a little here, so here goes:

Okay, so the very first thing you'll need to do is create a profile for the character you want to play (whether it is a canon character - one that is on the show; or a made up character). All the information about this is in this forum but you post your actual profile in the 'pending profiles' forum there, using the character profile template.

To do this you'll need to know where you want your character to attend. If you look at the sidebar there is a section called 'information' in which there are character count drop down boxes. As you can see here all Glee club spots are currently filled in Lima (New Directions) and Akron (Vocal Adrenaline). This means that if you want your character to be in Glee then you will need to make them attend Westdale High, Fort Wayne (Aural Intensity).

Once you have submitted your profile you will need to wait for it to be approved by Quinn, one of the site's admin, who is usually pretty darned quick about these things. Look out for any PMs (personal messages) too because if there is anything that needs changing about your application you'll no doubt be informed this way.

After your character has been approved and welcomed to Something Special, you will now be ready to join or create your own threads. You can either post a new topic yourself (eg, hanging out near your locker in Westdale High or out for the night at the local cinema in Akron), which other people will be able to respond to. As for responding to threads that are already on the board, you will need to look out for whether they are tagged to a certain person (usually this will be in the topic line) - what you're really looking for is an 'open' tag or one that is tagged for a group you belong to (eg, Vocal Adrenaline boys).

If the thread you're in is a group thread, where there are more than two people involved then pretty much you respond when it makes sense for your character to respond (ie, you don't have to take it in strict turns). This can, very occasionally lead to a clash in posting, but I believe the new site warns you if someone has posted since you started writing, which is useful! - it does it just came up with the warning for me then!

So, sorry if I dumbed this down too much, or if I'm being unclear about anything. Hope this helped and good luck with creating your character!

((Jasper beat me, but if there's extra stuff here that's useful... I'm just gonna post it anyway :P)

It's not exactly with role-playing. But what is plotting? I go into the forum and I see the layouts and the colors and lists and I'm getting really confused :look: Is there also anywhere where I can get the designs or do I have to create it myself? Thanks for the help :)

I think I could answer that for you, Morgan.

Plotting pages are basically a faster and easier way to determine relationships between characters. I personally find it easier to post in others' plotting pages before I RP with them so I could build up my posts based on it and so I could be on the same page with the other writer, let them know what to expect before I RP with them. There are a few exceptions of course. For example, Nate's relationship with Mia. It started out as only liking her but it turned out to falling in love with her, with a few twists and drama. Relationships develop, of course but plotting pages set the basic feelings between 2 characters.

I got my plotting pages from here: CAUTION 2.0

There's a section there for plotting pages, with codings and all. I hope I didn't confuse you and if you still have questions, you know how to find me. :)

Okay, thanks, that was a really helpful answer :D I'm looking through Caution 2.0 now. So you usually plot before you role-play? Thanks again :)

For me, yes. I usually prefer plotting before RPing, it makes it easier for me to write a good quality post. Sometimes, it's not really needed, if the feelings between the characters are too obvious to plot.

The plotting is like the foundation of the whole relationship, in my opinion so I prefer it most of the time.

Just wanted to add, though, that plotting (and especially plot pages) are not required to roleplay. A lot of people just "plot" in the cbox or through PMs, rather than a plotting page. So please don't feel pressured to use one if you aren't comfortable doing so.

Personally, even though I have one posted for my characters, I very rarely use it and usually just plot in the cbox/PMs or MSN:

"Oooh! I got a really good idea. What if your character and mine had a big argument at camp?"

"That sounds awesome! Who's starting?"

"I'll start!"

"Okay!"

etc.
